The Ascaedi Wilds is a vast temperate plain in southeastern Athelonesia.
The mountains bisect the wilds into the Ascaeli Steppe and the Khazgorian Wastes.
Description
The Ascaeli Wilds are described as primarily open grassland, with a scattering of hills, streams, and sparse forests. Forgotten ruins of the Dorenti people are sometimes found in the area. At the region's center stands a semi-ruined tower of gargantuan proportions known as the Ancestor Tower, said to have likely been constructed by the empyreans in reverence to their creator Elegrim in ages past.
To the south and east, one can find the home of the Ankaidou, the Khazgorian Wastes. To the distant south, known as Athelonesia South, one can encounter the mysterious lands of the nation of Rhindaan. To the north and west of the wilds, is the Athelonesian North, where the dominions of the Kingdom of Waymoot and the Nymorran Estates exist.
As mentioned before, at the heart of the Wilds, is the mysterious Ancestor Tower. Its actual height is unknown, though its actual height is estimated to be over a mile. This is unclear however as the upper reaches are obscured by an unnatural mist that gradually begins half a mile up. The original builders clearly designed it for beings that were at least as tall as an ogre. The empyreans were said to have been around the same height.
The wilds are home to magical, exotic creatures - some of which, are quite dangerous. This is in addition to Ankaidou raiders, who still wander the area, raiding the unwary.
The Dorenti people are said to have originated here.
