The Kingdom of Phyrangia was a country in central Athelonesia. Phyrangia's borders primarily encompassed those of modern Sithras'. The exception was the Sarbech River, which served as Phyrangia's traditional northern border. Its capital was Camlen.
History
Early History
Before the Dorenti, the Sorval Valley was inhabited by the Velas, survivors of the civilization that the Ioneisean Empire destroyed. The Dorenti arrived through a series of migrations from southern Athelonesia that occurred during the -740s PR. They too were the battered remnants of a conflict against a conquering host; in the case of the latter, the Ankaidou, who drove the Dorenti from the Ascaedi Wilds. Ultimately, the two cultures intermarried and became indistinguishable.
In -532 PR, the Ankaidou invaded the valley. Only through the Phyrangi's leadership and ingenuity did the Dorenti prevail. Vedestes used the invaders' inherent fear of forests against them, and never again did the Ankaidou try to enter the valley, believing them accursed.
Rise of the City of Camlen
As the Andorian Empire grew in northern Athelonesia, the Dorenti dominated central Athelonesia as two distinct clans, the Phyrangi and the Neumeni.
The Phyrangi became sedentary, building a settlement known as Camlen. By -56 PR, the "Kingdom of Phyrangia" is first referenced. Camlen exercised influence over a series of tributary states along the Sarbech River and its tributaries.
Some Neumeni tribes came under Phyrangi control, but most remained free. Their territory often buffered the Kingdom of the Phyrangi and the Andorian Empire, but left the Neumeni open to future depredations by the empire.
Conflict With the Andorian Empire
With the continued encroachment of the Marsh of Delcimbre across its northern dominion, the Andorian Empire, forced by a growing lack of livable land, set its sights across the Sarbech River into Nemeni territory.
These incursions began with the settling of colonies along the river, aggressively clearing the forests with ax and fire. Those actions drew Neumeni reprisals. Ultimately, the building of the settlement of Caldunoin at the mouth of the Sarbech brought the worst of Andorian insults. Its denizens forced conversions or enslavement upon the Neumeni.
The Dissolution of the Kingdom
The Phyrangi and Neumeni split spiritually because of their cultural and religious differences, further agitated by the Andorian Empire. The Neumeni, greatly harmed by Andorian aggression, came under the sway of Arghris the Flamebearer, seeking to fight "fire with fire". The Phyrangi continued to follow the traditional 'Old Faith'.
After the king's passing in 230 PR, the kingdom was partitioned between his twin sons, who formed the Kingdom of Camlen and the Kingdom of Neumenia respectively.
Government
Phyrangia was a monarchy.
Religion
The Kingdom of Phyrangia worshipped the Dorenti Old Faith.
