Othrick I

Othrick I (826-899 PR), the former Duke of Rivvek, is credited with founding House Othrick, creating the Confederation of Sithras, and defeating the Great Orc Horde, concluding the Second Velashaar Crisis, which paved the way for Sithras' rise under House Othrick.

History

Othrick was born in Rivvek in 826 PR.

Othrick was elected at the Kingsreach of 858, becoming the Mage-Protector, a supreme military title dating from House Maldwyn's rule. He would create a solution to the "orc problem" by making the Confederation of Sithras, uniting Sithras, the Kingdom of Nymorra, and the Kingdom of Neumenia, culminating in the horde's defeat in 867 after the Battle of Velashaar Valley where Othrick valiantly slew their Great Khan in single combat.

By 877 PR, Othrick had wrested significant power from Orsinicus, House Maldwyn's patriarch and Sithras' ruling monarch. Othrick's influence made him an absolute ruler in all but name, with the title of High King officially given to his son and successor, Arrengar, the first Othrick High King of Sithras.

Othrick died in 899 PR.

Description

Othrick was described by contemporaries as being unusually tall and stocky with exceptionally high physical strength, which persisted well into his middle years. As he grew older, he tended to let his beard grow especially long.
