The Herrenhorn Principalities is a country in southwestern Athelonesia. The northern border is the Shatterfang Peaks that separate it from the Kingdom of Sithras. The Ioneisean Sea serves as the western and southern border, while the eastern border is the Godsholme Mountains. Its capital is Semphar.

History

Orgothan Annexation of Old Herrenhorn

The Orgothan Invasion of the Kingdom of Herrenhorn (423-430 PR) began in 423 PR, when dragonborn legions and their dragon overlords arrived from Orgoth to conquer Athelonesia. They landed upon the Herrenhorn Peninsula and set their sights upon the coastal Kingdom of Herrenhorn, which was fully conquered by 430 PR.

Andorian Subjugation War

The Andorian Subjugation War (428-492 PR) began when Orgoth set their sights upon the Andorian Empire, focusing upon the province of Waymoot. This conflict ended with the disastrous Siege of Rivvek (489-491 PR), during which many of the Orgothan overlords were slain. The aggressors were forced into signing the Rivvek Accords in 492 PR, thereby ending the central conflict. However, minor skirmishes continued sporadically over the following decades.

Fall of the Dragon Overlords

By the mid-500s, the last dragon overlord fell to intrigues by scheming dragonborn warlords who grew in power during the decades following the loss to the Andorian Empire. Furthermore, the dragonborn-based Harrenhorn kingdom lost access to the motherland, effectively isolating them.

Rise of Tymanchier

Tymanchier was considered a hero of the late era Andorian conflict, continuing to fight some time following the signing of the Rivvek Accords. He was also notorious for seeking the overthrow of the remaining dragon lords afterwards. He would again gain recognition for ousting many of the rival overlords in 545 PR unifying the Kingdom of Herrenhorn under one leader since the annexation of Old Herrenhorn.

The Partition

In 580 PR, Tymanchier died, partitioning his realm between at least ten of his recognized sons. A succession conflict was imminent but initially delayed when they launched a disastrous joint military campaign against the Andorian Empire in 581 PR. Disagreements between the sons reignited the succession crisis. This conflict ended in 663 PR.

Government

The Herrenhorn Principalities, following its annexation by Orgoth, began as a colony that later transitioned into a monarchy, with its seat of power being the city of Semphar.

  • Semphar: The thickly walled settlement of Semphar was built upon the ruins of the former capital of Herrenhorn. Over time, the dragonborn mastersmiths built a reputation, garnering Seherenon its moniker as the City of Smiths in reference to its Great Bazaar.
