The Kingdom of Nymorra was a country in northern and central Athelonesia. Its capital was Caldunoin.
History
Rise of Nessandra
On the southern fringes of the Andorian Empire, along the border with the Neumeni Territories, in 591 PR, Nessandra was forced to marry Maricus, Caldunoin's acting governor. Her husband had been a client ruler under the empire, and after his passing, she was considered part of the emperor's inheritance.
Escaping in 595 PR, she returned to her homeland and grew into a powerful practioner of the arts of sorcery as well as a keen tactician. These traits hones by her personally led raids against Caldunoin's caravans, which drew her estranged husband Maricus' ire further. Maricus was foiled in his numerous attempts to crush the Neumeni in open battle and he would eventually be killed in an ambush.
An Andorian-raised Phyrangi general, Brondalwyr, replaced the previous governor. Brondalwyr had been stationed in Caldunoin since 594 PR, as his origins were believed to help him deal with the local tribals. As governor, he often led forays into the marches to fight raiders. During one such sortie, he was captured during a surprise assault in 603 PR. As a prisoner, Brondalwyr became disillusioned with Palmithra, seeing the injustices they inflicted on his captors. Eventually, he took Nessandra as a lover and championed her cause, unifying various clans under her banner. In 612 PR, the Dorenti captured Caldunoin.
Jealous chieftains, led by a heated rival, Leomer, assassinated Brondalwyr in 616 PR. Nessandra disappeared the following year, possibly in mourning for her lover, perhaps secretly assassinated as well.
Brondalwyr and Nessandra's son, Caswallon I, slew Leomer in battle in 619 PR, beginning a period of warfare against other Dorenti tribes that continued to oppose him. In 626 PR, Caswallon pacified his worst detractors by sword or diplomacy, winning over his supporters and many of his rivals and earning their recognition as king of the Nymorran Dorenti.
Decline
Nymorra's decline had been associated with three major factors.
The first of these occurred long before the existence of Nymorra, with the ever-expanding great Marsh of Delcimbre. Like the Andorian Empire before it, this was a major factor in a civilization's decline.
Beginning in 782 PR, the Velashaar horde rampaged into Nymorran territory. An aging King Caswallon II defeated the horde east of Caldunoin in 798 PR, forcing them to route south into Sithras, but the damage had been done. His passing, however, led to a period of incompetent or tyrannical successors - sometimes both. Further, the Kingdom of Sithras, claiming a political marriage between the two realms, absorbed the kingdom in 935 PR. During the following century, Brondalwyr's paternal line was extinguished.
